Haryana @ 2047:
A Strategic Foresight Approach

Background

Haryana envisions itself as a sustainable growth engine for India, striving for equitable and balanced development across the service sector, green industry, and transformative agriculture. Our goal is to become a resource-efficient, net carbon-neutral, and digitally inclusive state, where women lead the way as frontrunners in development and decision-making. With a vision of becoming a 500 billion USD economy and achieving a per capita income of 8000 USD, we are committed to shaping a prosperous future for our citizens
Opportunity and Objective
In 2017, Haryana took a pioneering step by articulating its SDG Vision 2030. As we approach the mid-point of this journey in 2023, we have a unique opportunity to revisit our vision for 2030 and recalibrate our plans for 2047.The landscape has drastically changed due to the implications of Covid-19 on all aspects of life and governance. We are determined to create a ‘Future-ready Haryana’ by engaging with all stakeholders and developing a more robust and evolved vision document. This will not only align government departments but also academia, industry, youth, and other key stakeholders to address new challenges and set pragmatic ambitions.
The Strategic Foresight Approach
In a world marked by global interconnectedness, climate change hazards, and a widening digital divide amidst rapid digital transformation, we must be prepared for an unpredictable and complex future. This necessitates adopting a long-term perspective and anticipating emerging realities. By embedding foresight into our decision-making processes, we can effectively manage risks and opportunities, ensuring proactive governance. Strategic foresight empowers us to deal with uncertainty, anticipate change, promote innovation, engage in strategic planning, and build preparedness for a range of potential futures. This enables us to adapt and respond effectively to future shocks.

Join us on this transformative journey as we build a Future-ready Haryana, shaping a prosperous and sustainable future for generations to come.

  • Offer strategic early warnings of potential positive opportunities and negative shocks
  • Challenge planning assumptions and enable informed decisions
  • Capture, understand and prepare for emerging global, regional, and local challenges and opportunities
  • Influence structures, business models, risk appetite, financing, collaborations, culture, and operational agility
